Hours:  January to mid-March, Saturdays 10-4 ; Mid-March to mid-June and mid-October through December, 1-4pm Wed-Fri and 10-4 Saturday ; Mid-June to mid-October, Tuesday-Saturday 10-5

Mission Statement: To bring together persons interested in the history of Martha's Vineyard, to collect and preserve significant information and materials relevant to local history, to maintain museums and libraries and to disseminate historical information and stimulate interest in the
Island's unique heritage.
 

Uses of your collection available to researchers (e.g. will respond to written inquires, archives available by appointment, and the like):   Written, telephone and email inquiries will be responded to with research fees applied when applicable.  Researchers are encouraged to
make appointments ahead of time with the librarian or genealogist.
 
Will you reproduce documents or photographs?  Documents may be photocopied unless too delicate to do so and images can
be scanned and reproduced by staff members for a fee according to the nature of the use of the image.  Applications for image reproduction and
use can be obtained by fax or mail upon request.


Collection Content:    The Library holds approximately 5,000 books, 500 linear feet of manuscripts and archive materials, 10,000 photographs, 500 maps, 400 nautical charts, whaling logbooks, account books, special collections such as Revolutionary War documents, Native American collections, and oral histories. The library also holds the largest collection of genealogical resources and records on the Island.
