Visitors: Visitor access limited at the Navy Yard. Office staff available by appointment; please call ahead.

Mission Statement: To preserve and promote the naval history of the United States by supporting official Sea Services programs and
institutions, meeting the needs of the public for naval history, and collecting historical items.
 

Use of the Collection: Virtually all of the NHF collection now resides at Library of Congress Manuscript Division and Naval Historical Center's Operational Archives and Navy Department Library.  Call for additional information.  NHF runs a Historical Services Division that will reproduce historic naval photos, documents and cruise books from the Naval Historical Center's collections.  See details under "Photographs" on our web site.

Other Information:

NHF is co-located with the Naval Historical Center on the Washington Navy Yard.  We support many of the Center's programs, including exhibits and education programs at the U.S. Navy Museum, where we run the Gift Shop. We also run a number of other naval history-related programs, including a nation wide oral history program.  Details at our web site!
