Mission Statement: To educate the public about the rich global heritage of the United States as a maritime nation; to recognize and honor the service and sacrifice of the men and women of the Navy, and other sea services, and their families; and to perpetuate their values of dedication, leadership, service to country, and teamwork in future generations of Americans.

Use of the Collection: Library is open Mon.-Fri regularly and some Saturdays from 10:00-4 PM. Appointments are not necessary. Currently, no archives are electronically accessible, however, in the future our Voices collection will be added to our web site.
Documents: 25 cents per page, Photographs: $15 for 8" x 10".
Respond to written inquiries within one week, copy orders the same day.

Collection Content:

  • General areas - Naval History, World War II
  • Library - 600 books, no technical drawings, 15,000 vessel photographs.
    Other documents: The Voices of the Navy Memorial collection contains over 1,000 personal accounts by sea service veterans. Seventy-five percent deal with World War II service. Further, we maintain a manuscript collection at East Carolina University (in North Carolina) that contains the original papers and scrapbooks of approximately one hundred veterans. We also have several hundred offprints and short publications.
